Mission Complete!

There was one last quilt at the bottom of my basket. I started this quilt in the 90's! I bought this beautiful piece of fabric from the shop that used to be in St. Louis Park in Miracle Mile. The batik flowers were already on fabric, all stitched with beautiful bright thread. I remember that it was spendy, but I had to have it. I couldn't bring myself to cut it up at all and I didn't see the point in getting too crazy with it. I decided to put a simple border of batiks around it and call it done. It has been sitting (sandwiched and pinned!) since 1999. Yikes! Talk about UFO's.
So now the basket is EMPTY!! All of the unfinished quilts are finished!! Except for the ones in the next basket, which are finished tops without backs. That is my next challenge for myself. But before I move on to the next challenge, I want to celebrate the accomplishment of this one! So...
...I would like to have a giveaway. For a chance to win your very own moda messenger bag, leave a comment about a recent goal that you have accomplished (sewing or otherwise). I will randomly chose a winner next week.

P.S. I also have a fat quarter for the first person to remind me of the name of that fabric shop in SLP!

  1. My goals tend to be long term, so I haven't accomplished them so much as am working them. I've been blogging once a week all year (ha!) and haven't sent out any VQB blocks late. Last year, my goal was to finish 1 quilt per month and I did 14. :)

  3. Well, my goal for this month is only half way done, but I've been trying to sew on my dress every day this month in hopes I'll be finished on the 31st. So far so good!

  4. My goal for this month was to get started on the AMH flannel quilt that I've been thinking about since last winter. So far I've cut a bunch but haven't sewn anything yet. My other goal was to drink less coffee, but that one's going nowhere!

  7. Congrats on finishing your quilt! I just finished a UFO that I started about 5 years ago, so you have me beat by a full decade.
The fabric store in SLP was Dell Fabrics. I wish I would have shopped there more often - maybe they'd still be in business. :-)

  8. Good job on completing your quilt!! I'm glad I found your blog. I'm in Mpls area too!! Always good to find another quilter in Mpls/St Paul. Other people have pointed out that it's Dell Fabrics. I'm working on completing a bunch of projects and admittedly, I started another one today instead. Oops! I call it ADHD quilting. Can't complete one project before moving on!! :)

  10. Oh I knew it was Dell!! Loved that shop. I used to dream of buying fabric there, alas they are gone because of shoppers like me.

My first goal for 2012 was to learn paper piecing and I has already done it!!! I am so proud and now love pp.

  12. I bought my first Moda fabric at Dell. I miss that store - they had just amazing fabric.

My big fat hairy goal is to have 5 quilt patterns written and available on my etsy shop by June 1. I'd better get busy considering January is basically over.

Congrats on busting through the UFO basket. Now you get to make more quilt tops!!
